about

Something In My Eye The Acid Jazz All Stars

Back in the midsts of time, Eddie Piller had an idea that he wanted to make a Brazilian influenced pop record, inspired by his love of Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66's classic recordings for Herb Albert and Jerry Moss’ A&M label. He also knew who to call upon to make it.

First up were Scott & Ben from Corduroy, who were riding high from the success of Dad Man Cat. Armed with a new tune ‘Something In My Eye’ that instantly felt like an anthem, vibes man Roger Beaujolais, percussion maestro Snowboy and vocalist Viveen spent a productive day at Acid Jazz studios working on the track and creating a vibrant soul-samba that punches right out of the speakers.

And then….

Well and then, before this version saw the light of day, Corduroy re-worked the song into something more like Ed’s original vision, and this soulful take, languished in the Acid Jazz vault. Listening to it earlier in the year, we admired its power, and the different take it provides on the magnificent Acid Jazz anthem, and immediately thought that it should be out in the world.
